Fire and Ice Facial

The Fire and Ice Facial, also called the "Red Carpet Facial", is a clinically active treatment designed to rapidly and safely resurface the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, smoothing, softening and encouraging cellular renewal. This facial is not ideal for sensitive skin, but is appropriate for acne prone, damaged skin, oily skin and combination skin types.

Preparing For Your Facial

Before coming to your facial appointment it’s important that you have discontinued prescription topicals including Retin A, retinol and topical glycolic acid 3-5 days before. If you are on the medication Accutane, please wait to do any facial treatments until 6 months after you have completed your Accutane treatment. If your facial is in the morning, there is no need to do your regular skin care routine. I will be applying topicals and prepping your skin for the day! If you applied makeup before your appointment, you don’t need to wash your face before your treatment. I provide a very thorough cleanse and remove your facial makeup.

During Your Facial

The facial starts with a thorough cleanse with iS Clinical Cleansing Complex. This cleanser is powerful, yet gentle enough for the most sensitive skin types. Cleansing Complex balances the skin’s pH level which allows the products used in the facial to work to their full potential. After the cleanse is an exfoliating step. In the Fire and Ice Facial the exfoliating and resurfacing step includes an Intensive Resurfacing Mask. This is the “fire” part of the treatment. The masque is clinically formulated with 18% unbuffered glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, malic acid, retinol, vitamin B3 and potent antioxidants, including green tea extracts. It has a cinnamon scent and tingles a little on your face as it begins to work. This part of the treatment is designed to exfoliate and resurface the skin without excessive post-procedural peeling. This smooths and softens the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is left on for no more than 3-5 min. Then it is removed and neutralized by a second cleanse with Cleansing Complex.

After the Intense Resurfacing Masque, if necessary, I will perform extractions. This includes manually removing debris from your pores including blackheads and whiteheads. This is done in a gentle manner with specific tools to safely clear your pores without damaging your skin. After the extractions a soothing facial massage is performed. This is used with facial massage gel for sensitive skin. The facial massage stimulates blood flow in your skin, promotes lymph drainage and relaxes your facial muscles. When the facial massage is complete the “Ice” portion of the facial is performed. The Rejuvenating Masque is applied providing a refreshing and soothing sensation. The Rejuvenating Masque is designed to help restore, soothe and provide hydration. This masque is excellent for post-procedure and even to treat sunburn. While this mask is on you will receive a relaxing shoulder massage. After about 10 min, the mask is removed. Then the appropriate serums are applied. Hydra-Cool Serum is an excellent serum that cools, calms and soothes dry skin. It is also great for acne-prone skin and provides antioxidant protection. An eye cream will also be applied. An eye cream hydrates, lightens dark circles and reduces puffiness. A gentle and hydrating moisturizer will be applied throughout your face and neck leaving your skin silky smooth. To complete your facial treatment an SPF 45 is applied that protects from UVA and UVB rays.

After Your Facial

You just had a facial, now what? After your treatment you may immediately apply makeup. Make sure it’s non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores). Please refrain from strenuous workouts that would make you sweat excessively for 24 hours after your treatment. If your appointment is in the evening, you may leave on the products applied during your facial overnight. Your skin may experience a mild breakout or “purging” after the treatment due to the facial treatment accelerating your skin’s cell turn over. Please refrain from your topical Retin A, retinol and glycolic topicals 3-5 days after your treatment to avoid irritation. Make sure you schedule your next appointment in 4-6 weeks. People that get monthly facials get well-hydrated, clear and glowing complexion, and are able to maintain their youthful look longer.
